The Challenges
The location within a historic district added unique challenges, including strict percentages, measurements, setbacks, and square footage limitations that needed to be adhered to.
The Solution
Navigating the historic approval process was lengthy, complex, and occasionally frustrating. Every element of the design had to meet approval from both the historic staff and the Historic Board, requiring careful adjustments along the way. While most of the client’s expectations were achieved, a few compromises were necessary to reach the final design that satisfied all parties.
The Results
The finished project showcases a design that perfectly blends with the historic aesthetic of the neighborhood. The charming color scheme, quaint architectural style, and the thoughtful presentation on the lot, including a custom-designed fence, all exude a historic feel. The client loves the end result and often shows it off to visitors—though getting their guests to leave might be the real challenge!
